About Me
I’m Jeff Harbert, a technical support professional in North Carolina. I started in IT about ten years ago. In that time, I’ve travelled around the country installing computers and printers, done front-line telephone support, hands-on support doing all manner of things, large-scale PC rollouts, projects both large and small, server consolidation, user account setup, user training, technical writing, knowledge base creation, and much more.
I’m a hands-on tech support kinda guy. While I’m very good at telephone support, I don’t enjoy it much. Telephone support too often requires passing the buck to someone up the support food chain, and I prefer to fix things myself if I’m able. I’d much rather be face-to-face with people, solving their computer problems. There’s nothing I like more than the look on a user’s face when they see that their problem has been fixed.
I’m a big believer in user education. Map a network printer for a user and they can print for the day. Show a user how to map a network printer and they can print forever.
